Dr. Tejal R. Gandhi (M.Pharm, Ph.D) is Professor and Principal, Anand Pharmacy College, Anand, Gujarat and Ex-Dean of Pharmacy (Z0ne-3), Gujarat Technological University, Gujarat, India. She is Fellow of International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (FIACS).
She is an academician with over 26 years of extensive experience in the areas of Pharmaceutical Research. Her present areas of research include Herbal Drugs Evaluation (Cardiovascular, metabolic disorders, Nephrolithiasis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ulcer) and Toxicological studies.
Dr. Gandhi oversees an active research team of 25, comprising of Doctoral Fellows, Post-graduate students, Associate & Assistant Professors, and Research Technicians. Her team focuses on collaborative research, wherein several research programs are being conducted in collaboration with leading pharmaceutical companies. Over the last one decade, Dr. Gandhi has been involved in the search of new molecules with herbal origin, beneficial to cardiovascular patients and nephrolithiatic patients. Under her leadership, the research team in her Institute laboratory has been involved in the development of formulations and analytical methods for the same.
Dr. Gandhi has, to date, mentored over 100 Post-graduate students and 8 Doctoral Fellows on their research projects. Five patents have already been published to her credit. She has published more than 140 research papers in International and National Journals covering various aspects of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Dr. Gandhi has received in all 30 research awards. To name a few, she got best M.Pharm Best Research Guide award by R.V. Patel Foundation in 2011 &2017, Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award 2014 and 2013 given by Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technology and Institutions (SRISTI)for the best research having cost effective solution, Best Innovative research award by IPA, GUFIC Prize for the best Research Paper Presentation in the Oral Scientific Session at Annual Conference of IPS in 2008 and 2006, Subhash C. Verma Memorial Prize at Annual Meeting of the IPS, Gujarat Chapter for continuously three years2008,2009 and 2010.
Dr. Gandhi is felicitated by Pedagogical innovation award for continuing efforts towards Innovation Pedagogies at various levels of GTU Innovation Council by Gujarat Technological University in 2013. She is nominated as a Best Pharmacy Teacher of India in 2013 by Indian Pharmaceutical Trust. She is recipient of Distinguished leadership award by International Academy of Cardiovascular science, Winnipeg in 2016.
Dr. Gandhi has also actively participated in successfully organizing Diabetes & Hypertension Camps, for free check-ups and guidance for underprivileged people in Gujarat State. She was a key contributor to Project India with Operation Diabetes and the international pharmaceutical students, Federation of the University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Gandhi has successfully organized IACS India section meeting in 2011 and 2016. She is associated with the IACS-India section since its inception and also served as a council member of Academy of cardiovascular sciences, India section for three years. She has organized various awareness camp for school children under the banner of Academy in and around Anand, Gujarat.
